A term ‘parakeet’ is used to refer small to medium sized bird which belongs to different parrot varieties and possess long tail feathers. These belong to different genera. •    Rose-ringed parakeet- The lifespan of a Rose-Ringed parakeet is almost 25-30 years. One Rose-Ringed parakeet has been known to live up to 50 years! To live a long and healthy life, the South American native requires plenty of nutritious diets, exercise, and mental stimulation.
•    Green-cheeked parakeet-The lifespan of a Green-cheeked parakeet is over 30 years, but mistreatment by owner could cut the lifespan near to half.
•    Golden parakeet- With adequate care, the Golden parakeet can easily live upto 30 years in the wild habitat and around 20-25 years in captivity.

Obesity is less common in wild cheerful parakeets who sing and fly around all day looking for food and water. One of the reasons they live longer and healthier lives than their confined counterparts is their level of activity and daily movements. They also congregate in groups of 20,000 to 30,000, which may keep them secure from predators.
The amount of time parakeets can live in captivity is mostly determined by the type of nutrition they receive, their protection from environmental threats, and their physical and mental health care. Aside from routine check-ups, it's critical to keep a watch out for any signs of sickness in your parakeet.
