
Alphabets are combination of letters. In alphabet, we have English Alphabet, Arabic Alphabet, Chinese Alphabet, Japanese Alphabet, Korean Alphabet, Russian Alphabet Italian Alphabet, French Alphabet, Greek Alphabet, German Alphabet and many more. But the ones listed above are too expatiated on in this article.
What comes to one's mind when 'Alphabet' is mentioned is 'English Alphabet' whereas it is not only English Alphabet that exists, English and others do exist? Let's check out the letters in English Alphabet first.
ENGLISH ALPHABET:
29 letters were first stated as the English Alphabet - back then in year 1011 by Brythferd, a monk. But later, 6 letters were removed and 23 was the new English Alphabet.
The 23 that was separated was A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, V, X, Y, and Z.
No J, No U, and No V.
J and U were later added in the 16th century, but W was like an independent letter.
From then till 1835, English Alphabet was 27. '&' called ampersand was the 27th letter.
But today, '&' is no longer an English letter. English Alphabet now comprises 26 letters. 23 letters from old English and 3 added (J, U, and W)
ARABIC ALPHABET
Arabic Alphabet comprises 28 letters. It's two sounds more than the English Alphabet - that does not make it simpler though. All the 28 letters are consonants. Does that mean the Arabic Alphabet has no vowel? Of course, No. It does. It has vowels. But instead of having the real vowel (a, e, I, o, or u), it has a glyph on the top of the consonant.
CHINESE ALPHABET
Chinese Alphabet does not really have letters - it's represented as figures or symbols. The symbols are made up of many letters. You might learn up to ten thousand characters in Chinese and still, you need to learn more.
JAPANESE ALPHABET
In Japanese Alphabet, you could learn 2000 symbols from only three alphabets. The first alphabet is 'kanji' represented in pictograms while the two other phonetic alphabets are 'hiragana' and 'katakana' - these two have 46 letters.
KOREAN ALPHABET
Korean Alphabet is known as the Hangul in South Korea, and Chosan'gul in North Korea. Of course, Korea is divided into two - the south and north. 'Hangul' and 'Chosan'gul' both contain 24 characters which are vowels.
RUSSIAN ALPHABET
Russian is a phonetic language. Russian Alphabet comprises 33 letters. 10 letters are vowels, 21 letters are consonants, and the other 2 are 'signs.' It's fun to learn and speak Russian fluently!
SPANISH ALPHABET
Spanish Alphabet comprises 29 letters. Many people especially English speakers believe Spanish Alphabet comprises 25 letters but it has four extra letters - ch, all, ñ, and rr) and the 'h' in Spanish is silent.
ITALIAN ALPHABET
Italian Alphabet has 2 letters. 5 letters were borrowed to write strange words. The five letters are j, k, w, x, and y. You'll have to walk extra mile in learning Italian Alphabet; so many people believe it's difficult to comprehend.
FRENCH ALPHABETS
French and English Alphabets are closely related. French Alphabet has 26 letters too
