Ye, commonly known by his former name Kanye West is an American rapper, record producer, and fashion designer.  Recently, he changed his name from Kanye West to YE.

The rapper legally changed his name to Ye (pronounced yay) on Oct. 18. The petition, which was filed Aug. 24, does not appear to include a middle or last name.

Kanye was born in Atlanta, but after his parents divorced he and his mother moved to Chicago, where he spent the majority of his youth. His mother was an English professor and overall he enjoyed a standard middle-class upbringing, even having the opportunity to live in China when his mother was a Fullbright Fellow. When his mother realized that her young son had a talent for poetry and rapping, she began to schedule time in a recording studio. Meanwhile, a Forbes fact check discovered that West's present net worth is closer to $1.8 billion, with the Bloomberg number based on "theoretical future projections" regarding money generated by West's partnership with Gap.

The Gap: In summer 2020, West announced a new partnership with Gap.

Tidal: West stated in 2015 that he will co-own the new streaming site Tidal alongside music industry heavyweights. The team launched alongside Jay-Z and many other renowned musicians to battle Spotify's streaming monopoly, which has angered many artists with its low royalty payout. Rihanna, Beyoncé, Madonna, Chris Martin, and Nicki Minaj allegedly control 3% of the company's shares.

Adidas: In 2013, West began working with Adidas on another sneaker project. The relationship gave birth to the renowned Yeexzus boot. In 2015, he collaborated on a clothing brand. In 2017, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian added kids' clothes to the range. In 2020, the brand sold over $1.7 billion.

Louis Vuitton and Bape: In 2009, he also partnered with Louis Vuitton and Bape on a shoe and later in 2011 worked with M/M Paris on a line of men's luxury silk scarves.
