How much pocket money did you get before?
A while ago, my parents gave me some paper bags containing all kinds of old Dutch coins. Some guilders, quarters, dimes, nickels and of course some pennies, from Queen Juliana and Queen Wilhelmina. My father is already 82, but just gets along with the iPad, so I send my parents regularly messages and get them back.
The other day, I asked my father this question, how much pocket money did you get before?
And this was the message I received back:
If I want to tell you about how much pocket money I received (82) in the past asks my daughter. Boy, that is something more than 75 years ago!
As a child I experienced the war consciously, almost everyone had it then poor and pocket money (Sunday mess, it was called then) was not there. Also in our family was a brablehans kitchen master, although I have never suffered real hunger (Unlike the people above the great rivers).
