Nancy pelosi has risen to be so successful in her life over the years and stands to be the most powerful woman in the US as at the time of this post. Born into a family who has political involvement as a tradition, she has made some admirable progress in that area. She took up politics as a career beginning as a volunteer and gradually moved up the ranks making the leap to the public office in a special election for California's Eighth Districts in 1987. She became the first female democratic leader of the House of Representatives and the first female speaker of the House.

Early Life

Born on March 26, 1940, as Nancy D' Alesandro in Baltimore, Maryland. Pelosi carries the family traits of involving in politics. Her father served in Congress and was the mayor of Baltimore for 12 years, and her brother served as a mayor of Baltimore as well.

While in Trinity College, she met Paul Pelosi the man who happens to be her husband. She graduated for Trinity College in Washington, D.C., 1962, and the two later got married and moved to San Francisco. They have five children, Nancy Corinne, Christine, Jacqueline, Paul and Alexandra.

Career

She didn't really rush into politics because she was focus on raising her family, she began her political journey as a volunteer for the Democratic Party. Hosted parties and helped with campaigns, with time she rose up in the ranks, serving as a California representatives to the Democratic National Committee from 1976 to 1996. Pellosi also served as the state and northern chair of the California Democratic Party.

Nancy Pelosi made the leap in 1987, winning a special election for California’s Eighth District, which include San Francisco. While as a member of the House of Representatives, she has served on the Appropriations Committee and the Permanent Select committee on intelligence. She has been a strong supporter of increased funding for health research and for other health care and housing programs and initiatives. She is also an advocate for human rights and the environment.

In 2002, Pelosi became the first woman in history to get the honour of been selected to be the Democratic leader of the House of Representatives. And four years later, she broke new ground for women in us politics, becoming the first woman to take the post of speaker of the house after the democrats won majorities in both the house and the senate.

In November 2010, the Republicans gained control of the House and elected John Boehner to the role of the Speaker of the house, relegating. Pelosi to minority leader. But when the Democrat regained in 2018, she regained back the seat as the Speaker of the house in early 2019.

•    Nancy Pelosi was the architect of the landmark Affordable Care Act which has guaranteed protections for all Americans with pre-existing medical conditions, ended annual and lifetime limits on health coverage, and provided affordable health coverage for tens of millions more Americans while lowering health care costs over the long term.
