How old is USA?

Every year on July 4, the United States of America, the world's third or fourth biggest country by land and the most developed economy, commemorates its birthday (also known as Independence Day). However, despite the fireworks and other festivities commemorating this day, many people wonder how old the country is. The majority of people only care about America's age since it gained freedom from European colonizers. Others are curious as to how long America has been colonized. The founding fathers signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, making the country 245 years old as of July 4, 2021, according to history. Native Americans, on the other hand, had lived in the territory that subsequently became the United States for at least 12,000 years.

Earliest Settlement

Although the United States is just 245 years old as of 2021, it has been around for more than 2.5 centuries. Long before the Declaration of Independence, the first Native Americans arrived in North America. Most historians believe the earliest indigenous people arrived in the area around 15,000 BC, while migration might have occurred as early as 30,000 years ago. The Bering land bridge was utilized by the earliest indigenous people to travel from Eurasia to North America until it drowned 10,000 years ago.

Paleoamericans were the first Native Americans to arrive and establish in North America, and they were later joined by ancestors of Aleuts, Athabaskans, and Eskimos, among others. The indigenous people established various civilizations over time and expanded over the area until the advent of Christopher Columbus in the 15th century, which marked the start of European colonialism.

Colonization And Declaration Of Independence

Despite the fact that Christopher Columbus was one of the first Europeans to sight the American continent, the Spanish were the first to settle in what is now the United States, establishing towns in New Mexico and Florida, including Saint Augustine and Santa Fe. By the mid-seventeenth century, the English had established a foothold on the Atlantic Coast and constructed Jamestown, Virginia, as the first colony. The British founded the 13 colonies during the course of the 17th and 18th centuries, with Georgia being the final colony in 1733.
The American Revolutionary War erupted in the late 18th century as a result of tensions between the 13 colonies and Great Britain over a lack of representation and the imposition of onerous taxes. The conflict began in April 1775 and ended in 1783 with the signing of the Treaty of Paris between the United States and the United Kingdom. Americans, however, approved the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, little over a year after the war began. On this day, the United States of America was founded, and it is commemorated as Independence Day every year. Following the signing of the Treaty of Paris on September 3, 1783, the British acknowledged American independence.
The United States has developed from 13 colonies (given statehood on various dates) to 50 states in 2.5 centuries, becoming the world's third or fourth-largest country by total area. After China and India, the country's population has increased 130 times to almost 330 million people, making it the world's third most populated country.
