Layers of mount Everest:

Everest is made up of many layers. The rock at the base of the mountain contains metamorphic schists and gneisses, top with flammable granite. At the top are fossils found in the ocean floor. Notable is the Yellow Band, a limestone structure that stands out prominently just below the assembly pyramid.

Everest is shaped like a pyramid. The three flat planes that connect the sides are called faces, and the line at which the two faces meet is known as the ridge. North Face rises above Tibet and is bounded by North Ridge and West Ridge.

The Southwest side ascents above Nepal. It is surrounded by southeastern and western ridge. The East Face also called Kangshung Face rises above Tibet and is bounded by Southeast Ridge and Northeast Ridge.
