How To Get Hair Dye Off The Skin

If you have ever used hair dye, you know how it can cause your scalp and skin to change color. Sometimes it's not a dramatic difference, but other times it's bad enough to make you want to stay inside with the lights off. Either way, getting that colored bleached skin is never something you expect. You just want your hair to look good. But what do you do when your dyed hair causes unwanted color on your scalp and skin?

No matter how careful you are, hair dyes can easily stain your hairline and face during the dye application. But since facial skin is more sensitive compared to skin elsewhere on the body, you might want to avoid harsh cleaners in this area.

Soap and water
The moment you notice that you have dye on your skin, your first defense should be soap and warm water to remove it.

Using the warm soapy water, wipe off the dye before it dries or shortly after applying; this may be enough to remove it.

Olive oil
Olive oil is a natural cleanser that may help remove the dye stains off your skin. Olive oil is a great way to remove hair dye without causing harm to your skin.

Use a cotton ball or your fingertips to apply olive oil directly to your skin. Don't be alarmed if you see color on the olive oil. This is a good sign! Massage the oil in circular motions and leave it for up to 8hours. Olive oil will get hair dye off your skin as long as you leave it on long enough. Wash with warm water to remove it all.

Rubbing alcohol
To use alcohol as a due remove:
1.    Dumb cotton into a rubbing alcohol.
2.    Gently dab it on the stained area of your skin.
3.    Use a washcloth to scrub off the dye from your skin gently.

Once the dye comes off, dip a clean cotton ball in warm soapy water and use it to rinse off the area.

Rubbing alcohol breaks down hair dye, making it an ideal dye remover. However, rubbing alcohol can be harsh and dry to the skin, and as such, if you have dry and sensitive skin, this may not be the best option for you.

Dish Soap and baking Soda
The dish soap will dissolve the dye while baking soda is exfoliating. The baking soda will also prevent further absorption of the dye into the skin. To use this:
1.    Create a paste with baking soda and dish soap.
2.    Apply the mixture to the stained skin gently.
3.    Rinse with warm water.

Nail Polish Remover
Nail polish is very harsh and is not safe to use on the face and neck. It can also have a strong smell and might burn your eyes, but it can be an excellent dye remover on your hands and fingers. Also, be careful if you have any cuts or breaks in the skin, as it can rub off the top layer of the skin.

To use nail polish remover, apply a small amount of the nail polish remover and apply it all over the stained area. Hair dye will dissolve with nail polish remover or acetone. And then, wash your hands with warm soapy water to remove the nail polish remover smell.

In general, dyes from hair dye should not stain the skin. Therefore, minimize this by applying petroleum jelly to your hairline and around your forehead before applying dye. This simple step can help prevent stains. But if you ever end up staining your skin, you can wash your hands with soap and water immediately after dyeing your hair. You can also use a remover containing acetone or alcohol to get the dye off your hands. Any of the methods mentioned above should be able to help you.
