How to handle tantrums in children?

#kids This happens very often to fathers and mothers of children between 2 and 5 years old. Some call it the terrible 3 years 😄

In particular, I have had the difficult task of being at this stage with my daughter Luciana. At 3 years old, it has become a sea of emotions every time we go somewhere or just go shopping at the supermarket.

Is it difficult? Yes, it is very. Although handling it is not impossible.

It is important to emphasize that children at this age do not yet know how to manage or control their emotions, for this reason, it is much easier for them to trigger them in a tantrum.

When the child does not immediately get what he asks for, he may become very angry, cry, throw objects, scratch or stick against walls. He is overrun with anger and does not have the ability to control his emotions. He will not attend to quarrels or aggressions, but they can increase his anger. In this case, be clear about the following:

1. You should not give in to the tantrum.

2. Wait patiently for him to calm down first.

3. Take him somewhere quiet and make sure he doesn't get hurt.

4. When it happens to you, talk to him or her, and encourage him to ask for forgiveness. It is important that from this age they begin to learn that they cannot have everything they want and to tolerate their frustrations. It is necessary for parents to talk a lot with their children, this will help them to enrich their language, ability to express themselves, creativity. Spending time talking to children is also a way to express affection and show them that we care.


5. Teaching the rules to children. It would be ideal to decide them together, but the last word lies with the parents. The child participates, understands, and takes responsibility for what he has decided. Clear and simple rules. And repeat them as many times as necessary in a calm way.
