Men and women experience hair loss. Hair loss can be quiet annoying especially when it occurs in women.
However, research showed that men lose hair commonly than women. In men it may lead to baldness.
What is hair loss?
Hair loss is the shrinking of the follicle and eventual falling off of hair strands due to hereditary, hormonal imbalance, health issues and ageing.

How to stop losing hair
1. Eat enough protein
The hair itself is made up of protein known as keratin - this is the major constituent of the hair. Keratin comprises of an amino acids - cysteine as its main building block.
Cysteine acts as an antioxidant that protects the hair from the damaging effect of sun rays. In addition it prevents breakage of hair.
You already know that amino acids are the simplest units of protein, right? That is, protein consists of numerous amino acids.
Therefore, complementing meals with protein rich foods would help in preventing hair loss. Examples of protein rich foods are eggs, fish, milk and legumes et cetera.
2. Consume vitamin rich foods
Vitamin A also called retinol is a fat soluble vitamin that does wonder in hair growth. Vitamin A stimulates the secretion of an oily substance - sebum from the hair gland. The sebum helps to moisturize the hair scalp and promotes hair growth. Deficiency of vitamin A may lead to loss of hair.
Opt for vitamin A rich foods like cod liver oil, carrots, egg and milk.
Vitamin B also known as biotin; this vitamin, promotes the formation of red blood cells which carry nutrients to the follicles and hair scalp.
Vitamin C is a very powerful antioxidant which prevents hair breakage and hair ageing. It ensures the the hair follicles are not blocked by dead cells and hence promotes hair growth., if you really want your hair to stop falling off, ensure you have the required daily intake of vitamin C (75 mg and 90mg for adults women and adult men respectively).
Examples of foods rich in vitamin C are citrus fruits, pawpaw, strawberry and lots more.
Vitamin D
Deficiency of vitamin D had been linked to nonscarring alopecia. Alopecia is sudden hair lose that occurs as a result of the autoimmune attack on the hair follicles leading to patches of bald.
Taking enough vitamin D through morning sun or via medication helps to stop hair loss.
Minerals like zinc, selenium and irons promotes hair growth and slows down hair lose.
3. Olive oil
This can serve as a good hair conditioner. Applying two to three tablespoon of olive in the hair and allowing it to stay for about 30 minutes will help to condition the hair properly and reduce lose of hair.
4. Use Plasma
I have used this to treat my hair once and the result was awesome. Platelets rich plasma can be injected into the hair scalp. This strengthens the follicle and slows down hair loss. Thus, promotes hair growth.
5. Essential oil
These are powerful agents that stop hair loss and promote hair growth. Some essential oils can be used together with carrier oil to produce faster results.
Examples of essential oils that stop hair loss are jojoba oil, peppermint oil, lavender oil, almond oil and coconut oil; the list is numerous.
6. Use Aloe Vera
Massage your hair with aloe vera at least once in a week and you will see how your hairs will stop falling off. This is because aloe vera is rich in folic acid (vitamin B9) and (vitamin B12) these two components slow down and prevent hair loss.
