FORMAL LETTER
A formal letter is a letter written formally to formal people and places. Formal letters are meant to be written in a simple and standard language without beating about the bush. It's always short and direct.
When you settle to write a formal letter, you're the sender while the person the letter is written to is the receiver or recipient.
Here is the formal letter format
• Sender's address: The sender's address is the person writing the letter's address. It's usually written on the top right-hand corner of a book, sheet, page, etc. The sender's address must be well-written in case the recipient wishes to come in person if need be.
• Date: The date is written after the sender's address (below it, and not below the recipient's address)
• Recipient address: After the sender's address and the date has been written, a space should be omitted and then the recipient's address should be written on the left-hand corner of the sheet. In the recipient's address, the title, name, or position should be written first.
• Salutation: Formal letters are short and direct. 'Dear Sir' or 'Dear Madam' should be used. 'Mr...' Or 'Mrs...' Can also be used if you know the person personally.
• Subject & Body: Subject is the summary of the letter while the body of the letter is the major purpose of writing the letter.
• Complimentary close comprises 'Yours faithfully' or 'Yours sincerely.'
• Signature: Write your name in capital letter after signing.
