#HAVELTE 🤓 Dolmens are, according to the common theory, remains of prehistoric burial chambers. However, they can not be considered as graves in the ordinary sense, but rather as knekelhuizen. It is not for certain that grave signalling has been the original function of all these structures. There are dolmens suspected to serve only as sanctuary.
Havelte () is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. Havelte was an independent municipality until 1 January 1998.
The village is located north of Meppel, between Darp and Uffelte. In 2019, the village had a population of 3,750. This makes it the largest village in the municipality of Westerveld.
