Sometimes people go out, armed with camera or smartphone with a good lens, to capture all kinds of beauty. But we forget all too often that there is also a lot of beautiful to be found close to home.

Recently I took a walk in my own village, Kortemark, in the heart of West Flanders. And I shot these beautiful pictures...

Right in the centre is a guard basin that was built after the floods of 2005.

Meanwhile, this has become a nature park where all kinds of activities take place that young and old can enjoy: in a harsh winter there is skating, in the summer there is a pop-up bar, occasionally there is a music event. On June 30th there is a real festival: Dreambeats. Last year, this went on across my own house. (see lower)
