If you disobey God - {the story of Jonah}
Jonah was a prophet, who refused to go to Nineveh, which God had commanded him. He was allowed to spend 3 days in a fish. In the middle of that fish, he began to pray to God.
Another story in history also teaches us that it is so stupid not to obey God. Their entire city will be destroyed. There were not 10 people in that city who were still found righteous. Yet God is a righteous and merciful God. We may always come back to Him if we sincerely regret our sins. So think before you start.
Jona's disobedience costs him three days in a fish
The prophetJonah has no intention of going to Nineveh. It gives him a beautiful adventure. He is allowed to sit in the stomach of a fish for a few days. If you disobey God and refuse to do what He says, it can have unpleasant consequences. The prophetJonah knows everything about that.
God had toldJonah to go to the great city of Nineveh. The behavior of the people in that city was horrible.Jonah had to preach to the people of that city that the judgment of God would come upon that city.Jonah didn't like going to that depraved city and decided to flee from God's sight.
This is impossible, because God is supreme and all-powerful. He always knows what we're doing and where we are. So running is pointless. There are several texts in the Bible that indicate that God's eyes go around the world.Job 34:21 says it this way:“For God's eye is on the ways of man; none of his steps is hidden from Him.”
