#educacin Promoting artistic education has been one of the endeavors of the recently deceased Minister of Education and Sports, Javier Imbroda, who was just released yesterday in office by Manuel Alejandro Cardenete. This change has been accompanied by a decree on which the Andalusian Government had been working since the end of last year and which responds to the traditional demands for equalization in this area.

Thus, the Board establishes the organization of the higher artistic education of undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees in Dramatic Art, Plastic Arts, Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Property, Design and Dance and Music, in line with the European Higher Education Area.

These Bachelor's degrees in Higher Arts Education will be equivalent to the university degree and the master's degrees will be included in level 3 of the Spanish Qualifications Framework for Higher Education, being therefore also equivalent to the university degree.

With the decree in hand, it will be possible to develop regulations for the implementation of master's degrees in artistic education and doctoral studies through agreements with universities, as well as the creation of new specialties and academic pathways.

Artistic disciplines

The higher artistic education that is matched correspond to five major areas: Dramatic Art, Plastic Arts, Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Property, Design and Dance and Music. These have different specialties. Thus, in the case of Dance, it is subdivided into two itineraries: Choreography and Performance and Dance Pedagogy. Dramatic Art specialties include Stage Direction and Dramaturgy and Set Design.

In the case of Music: Composition, Flamenco, Interpretation -the jazz-itinerary is incorporated-, Musicology, Pedagogy, Production and Management and Sonology. As for the degree in Design, we find Graphic, Interior, Fashion and Product Design. In Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Property, the election goes through Archaeological Assets, Graphic Document, Sculpture, Furniture, Painting and Textiles. Finally, Plastic Arts is subdivided into the specialties of Ceramics and Glass.

Access criteria
To access higher artistic education, it is necessary to be at the disposal of the Bachelor's degree or to have passed the university entrance test for people over 25 years of age, as well as passing a specific test for the different disciplines. The test will not be necessary in the case of Plastic Arts, Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Property and Design for those applicants who hold the title of Senior Technician of Plastic Arts and Design in a proportion of 20% of the new places.

Mobility and research
The decree will promote, together with the higher artistic education centers, the promotion of scientific and technical research programs in the different disciplines in order to “contribute to the generation and dissemination of knowledge and innovation in these areas, as well as to the improvement of the economic, cultural and artistic development of our societies”.

Likewise, the Ministry will facilitate the exchange and mobility of students and teachers of artistic education in the European Higher Education Area, within existing or other specific programmes that they may create for these teachings. In this vein, scholarships from the Erasmus+ programme will be mobilized.
