The man looked at the truck that hit the woods. About twenty soldiers jumped out of the green truck. The commander shouted in a harsh, pounding language some orders and the men spread out in the woods. It was only a matter of time before the refugee would be tracked down and caught — or worse.
The man couldn't stand, that was equivalent to suicide. He turned and penetrated deeper and deeper into the dark forest. Behind him he heard the screaming men. That screaming was in his favor, so they could not hear the inevitable breaking of branches. Continuing to run was not an option, he was too tired for that. Chasers mostly look forward, rarely up. He climbed up a tree and hid between the branches. In his provisory tree house, he waited for things to come.
