#NIJEVEEN : For some years Nijeveen also holds its annual #Nieuwjaarsduik in the local ice rink. However, the question arises: is there still a need for an ice rink with the current climate?

Nijeveen is a village in the Dutch province of Drenthe. The village has an area of more than 25 km2. Nijeveen was an independent municipality to which the villages Kolderveen, Nijeveense Boer and Kolderveense Bovenboer also belonged. Since the municipal reorganization in 1998, Nijeveen is part of the municipality of Meppel. The last mayor of Nijeveen was Henk van der Woude. Some of the more than 3600 inhabitants are Protestant Christian, the remaining inhabitants are from another denomination or unchurch.
