Is Holy Saturday really quiet? (11)
Big news: Silent Saturday isn't as quiet as often thought

In the Netherlands, the Saturday between Good Friday and Easter is called Holy Saturday. In our Calvinist nature, the spirit of religion and of fear and denial are deeply ingrained. But was it so quiet on the original Holy Saturday?
This day is seen as a kind of break between the cross and the resurrection. Only at Easter would Jesus be the winner in the fight against satan. That battle is said to have taken place on this Holy Saturday, when Jesus lay in the tomb. But - and this question is mainly addressed to my fellow believers - why did Jesus say on the cross: “It is finished”?

The Old Testament - in 2 Chronicles - describes a prophetic event. King Jehoshaphat's battle is 'the Lord'. And it is God who gives him victory in an unprecedented way. As a result, they need as much as three days to collect the entire loot from the littered battlefield.
This is exactly what Jesus did. He died on the cross, a gruesome martyrdom. He was led to the slaughter like a Lamb. He did so completely trusting in His Father, in God, and stood strong.
