It's looking, depth, shadow, power
Robert Schuurmans Stekhoven
ARTIST
Robert Schuurmans Stekhoven is an artist, but also a developer, researcher and designer of art for exhibitions, museums and science-centers. His works and studies are fascinating to see. His art forces you to look at depth, shadows, strength, shapes. And sometimes it's like looking at a picture, so beautiful. All made with ballpoint pen, charcoal, bicpen, ballpoint art. Mostly in black and white and sometimes also in colour.
That's how he once said to me in a comment and I quote βWhat you describe comes from my work as exhibition designer for museums. There I always sketch in perspective first and look at what I do with the atmosphere, shape, lighting, order (depth/dimensions) and layout. First of all, I work in black/white, because color makes everything very beautiful. Only after a while will I add color from the idea I want to tell and to enhance the space effect (color perspective). Most exhibition designers first start with a floor plan and therefore work much more rational. I do something similar now with my drawing work, but often deliberately do not add color because it does not add anything essential, in my opinion.β

His work inspires me
His work inspires me enormously and when I take a black and white picture I sometimes have to think of these words. Take a good look at what you see. First black and white. I took these three pictures and in these three pictures I had to think of depth, lines, power. What does a picture show, what does a drawing show? In black and white, you need to think about it, much more than if you take a color photo. At least I find it a lot more exciting when it's black and white. That's what I like @Robert Schuurmans Stekhoven have learned. Look Different. Thank you for your beautiful art and inspiration that you give us on Yoors and beyond. I dedicate this post to you as a beneficiary and hope to see many of your works here.
