Many people asked John Roberts why he didn't change the JB Hunts logo to yellow and black. John Roberts said the retention of the same logo symbolizes the continued spirit of JB Hunts in the evolving 21st century supply chain. According to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, "The retention of the current corporate logo symbolizes the preservation of the original ethos of JB Hunt transportation company... For John Roberts, the pioneering spirit of the founder of the company continues to be at the heart of JB Hunt." (Badly ).
Intermodal
On fig. 2 shows an example of the current J.B. Hunt is aligned with the green word "Intermodal", clearly chosen to represent the environmental compatibility of intermodal transport. Surprisingly, the current company logo has remained untouched by three different CEOs and has even outlived Johnny Brian "JB" Hunt himself. Compared to Shell Corporation's 23 years on the Global 500 list - with a current ranking of 7, no lower - it's clear that J.B. Hunt has not yet reached the level of public awareness that would allow the company name to be removed from the logo (Fortune, ``Royal Dutch Shell'').
Transports
With nearly 60 years of experience in the industry, JB Hunt Transport has grown from five trucks and seven trailers to an S&P 500 company that provides a variety of services to customers in the continental US, Canada and Mexico. Founded by Johnny Brian Hunt and Jonell Hunt, Arkansas in 1961, JB Hunt Transport Services serves the continental United States, Canada, and Mexico through its extensive coverage network. JB Hunt Transport Services, Inc., one of the largest transportation logistics companies in North America, provides safe and reliable transportation services to a diverse group of customers in the continental US, Canada and Mexico.
Largest Supply Chain
JB Hunt, a Fortune 500, S&P 500 and NASDAQ-100 company, is one of the largest supply chain solution providers in North America. On Tuesday, JB Hunts celebrated JB Hunts 60th Anniversary with a virtual Facebook event and a small in-person celebration at company headquarters. The virtual event kicked off with a personal message from co-founder Jonel Hunt, who thanked the staff and their loved ones for their dedication to JB Hunts' pursuit of success. In honor of the 60th anniversary of J.B. Hunt, J.B. Hunt has created special trailers that will be driven by the company's old drivers.
Fortune 500
Nearly 60 years later, J.B. Hunt went from five trucks and seven trailers to a Fortune 500 company. Later, in 1969, Johnny Hunt bought five trucks and seven trailers to start his trucking business, which eventually grew into JB Hunts. Johnny Brian Hunt has used his industry knowledge, off-road truck driver experience and entrepreneurial spirit to make the company a leader in the transportation industry. Despite the same logo, the actual business Roberts runs in Lowell bears little resemblance to the JB and Johnelle Hunt trucking company founded in 1969.
Largest
JB Hunt is one of the largest transportation companies in North America and one of seven homegrown companies on the Arkansas Fortune 500. JB Hunt employs over 20,000 people in 400 locations across the continental United States. In 2017, JB Hunt had 124,681 employees in North America.
Mexico
JB Hunt serves parts of Canada and parts of Mexico, but the bulk of shipping and freight is primarily within the continental U.S. borders. It's a public company with $6.8 billion in revenue in 2017. John Roberts said JB Hunts began investing in self-driving technology about five years ago, when it installed automatic braking systems on all of its trucks, reducing rear-end collisions by 60 percent.
John Roberts
To provide this transparency and predictive analytics, John Roberts said the company is developing a "single aggregation portal" for all key parts of the supply chain. With this in mind, JB Hunts recently merged its integrated capability solutions brokerage division and freight division into a single trading and operating brand, Autostrade Services. Cory 1st Choice's home delivery business will be integrated into JB Hunts Final Mile Services, part of its dedicated contract services business unit, the company said in a press release.
Demand
According to CFO John Kuhlow, JB Hunt faced "quite serious business problems early in the first quarter", especially in its specialized contract services business. While rail restrictions have helped move more intermodal traffic into JB Hunts' trucking business, JB Hunt also noted that demand for contract truck loading services increased as spot market growth slowed during the first quarter. Truck sales increased 17% year-over-year as the carrier added an additional 3,000 trailers in the first quarter, according to the company's income statement. Labor and equipment shortages could limit the future growth of JB Hunts' trucking business.
Another dimension of JB Hunts evolution with today's supply chain comes from huge investments in new technology and over 20 years of overhaul of its core operating systems.
Navistar
Navistar also commissioned a special piece of art to honor JB Hunt Transport and celebrate his work. Its straight edges can also be easily matched with other elements such as JB Hunt's business unit names in media such as truck trailers, PowerPoint presentations, news articles and other documentation.
