Jacob Benjamin Gyllenhaal, better known as Jake Gyllenhaal, was born on December 19, 1980 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Gyllenhaal started acting from an early age (at age 10). His first leading role was in the film 'Cielo de octubre (1999) 'which perhaps many have seen for being a very good and well-known film. He went on to star in the cult independent film Donnie Darko, in which he gave life to a teenager with psychological problems and in which he shared a cast with actress Maggie Gyllenhaal, his sister in the film and in real life. 'The Day After Tomorrow (2004) ', a film on the catastrophic theme of the global freeze that marked his debut in big-budget films and in which he played a student, son of Dennis Quaid. 

In 2005 Jake started to sound a lot as an actor as he continued to work on good film projects and began to be recognized to the public for his great talent and thanks to his portrayal of a frustrated sailor in Jarhead and especially the character of cowboy Jack Twist on Ang Lee's Brokeback Mountain, where he shared leading role with Heath Ledger.

“Enemy” (2013), adaptation of José Saramago's “The Duplicate Man”, “Nightcrawler” (2014), a thriller directed by Dan Gilroy, the mountain action “Everest” (2015), or “Redemption (Southpaw)” (2015), a boxing film in which he played the role of Billy “The Great” Hope.

In “Demolition” (2015) he played a bank investor whose life changes after the accidental death of his wife. A year later she released “Animals Nocturnos” (2016), a thriller co-starring Amy Adams in which she played a double role.
