Who is John Legend?
John Legend was born on December 28, 1978 in Springfield, Ohio. He became an in-demand session musician and songwriter and collaborated with artists such as Alicia Keys, Twista and Janet Jackson, before collaborating with up-and-coming hip-hop artist Kanye West. Legend's debut album, 'Get Lifted' (2004), won three Grammy Awards. After two more solo albums he released his collaboration with the Roots, 'Wake Up' (2010). John Legend also appeared on the TV competition 'Duets' as a coach before his next album, 'Love in the Future' ( 2013) dropped . He later shared an Academy Award, a Golden Globe and a Grammy with Common for their song 'Glory', from the 2014 film 'Selma'.

As a child prodigy, his grandmother taught him to play the piano and grew up singing in the church choir. He attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he led an a cappella group. After graduating, he shifted gear and went to work for Boston Consulting Group, but continued to perform at nightclubs in New York City.Â
