José Manuel Pirela born November 21, 1989 in valera trujillo Venezuela, native of the population of Bobures Municipality Sucre State Zulia is a professional baseball player. That its beginnings were at the Santa Cruz Stadium located in Caja Seca Zulia state, from there it was catapulted into internationalization, nicknamed the Aguila Negra.

Play for the San Diego Padres Major League Baseball (MLB) team. He previously played for the New York Yankees. And in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) Play for the Eagles of Zulia

Pirela signed with the New York Yankees as an international free agent, receiving a $300,000 signing bonus He made his professional debut for the Yankees in 2007 for the Dominican Summer League. He first came to Triple-A in 2013. After the season, he played for Águilas del Zulia of the Venezuelan professional baseball league. Pirela started the 2014 season with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders of the AAA Class. He finished the International League season with a batting average of .303, 10 home runs and 60 RBI. He was named All-Star of the post-season.


On September 16, 2014, the Yankees promoted Pirela to the major leagues.

Pirela suffered a shock on March 22, 2015, in a spring training game against the New York Mets while playing center field. He came across the wall of the field while chasing a ball hit by Juan Lagares.On April 2, 2015, he was placed on the disabled list for his concussion.A week later, he was transferred to the 15-day disabled list. He was activated on May 6 and on 7 hit his first home run against Los Angeles Angels.


On November 11, 2015, the Yankees sent Pirela to the San Diego Padres by minor league pitcher Ronald Herrera. He started the 2016 season with the Chihuahuas del Paso of the Pacific Coast League Pacific Coast League, and was promoted to the Padres on April 22.

Pirela did not receive a contract in the 2016 season break, and became a free agent. On December 13, 2016, he reached a minor league deal with San Diego Padres

On June 6, 2017 The Padres Promoted Pirela to the Major Leagues

Pirela ended the 2017 MLB season with an average of .288, 10 home runs and 40 RBIs.
