Just listen to these two saxophone solos!
Just listen to these two different songs where you hear a saxophone solo in both songs. If you listen carefully to both solos, you will hear that this is played by the same person in terms of playing style in both songs. It is none other than saxophonist Branford Mansalis. Branford Mansalis is a jazz as well as a classical saxophonist. In addition to being a saxophonist, he has also been a song writer and band leader for various music groups. Some music groups are still active to date, others unfortunately no longer exist, including The Jazz Messengers, which was founded in the 1950s under drummer Art Blakey. The band existed until 1990. This was the year that Art Blakey died and the band's existence came to an end. In the 90s, Branford Mansalis formed the band Buckshot LeFonque and their 1994 song Another Day became a hit.
The band Buckshot LeFonque's musical style is a mix of musical styles including funk, hip-hop, rock, r&b. These styles of music, especially in the beat you hear, are used more in songs from that time. Something struck me, namely. For example, when I listen to another song by Sting, Shape Of My Heart, I also hear the influences of the song Another Day in the song. The song Shape of My Heart has been used many times as a sample song, especially in hip-hop and r&b, the beat can often be heard. I have no idea if Buckshot LeFonque also used this song as inspiration for their own song Another Day, but it's interesting. Conversely, a saxophone solo in Shape of My Heart wouldn't have looked out of place either. I also write the song Shape of My Heart below, so you can listen to it. So I'm not saying that Buckshot LeFonque song Another Day is a sample of Sting's Shape of My Heart. One thing is certain, the guys worked together in the beautiful song Englishman in New York. In my opinion, a successful collaboration.
