Balinese kids

Balinese love kids and they are spoiled wherever it can. It is therefore not strange that children take a special place in Bali.

It starts at birth. Newborn children are considered 'holy', that is, according to Balinese view, they still belong to the world of god. Newborn children are always worn and should not touch the ground, as the ground is considered “unclean”. Only three months after birth, a child is allowed to touch the ground with their feet for the first time. That moment is celebrated with a special ceremony, the 'Tiga Bulalan' - freely translated the three-month ceremony.

The child then wears special clothes, gold bracelets around the wrists and ankles and a flower wreath on the head. A priest performs special ceremonies in which the child is “baptized” with holy water.

In the evening, there is usually a wayan kulit performance and of course for the visitors to the ceremony there are all kinds of tasty snacks and drinks ready throughout the day.
