Yesterday I really bought and picked up my sailboat. It is a 16m2 and I have real competition sails with it. The boat turns out to be called La Amistad. I looked up where the name came from. La Amistad was an old Spanish illegal slave ship. La Amistad was first an American ship and was called Friendship. Then a Spanish merchant bought the ship and renamed it La Amistad, which means The Friendship in Spanish. During a slave transport, there was a rebellion aboard the ship. The rebellion was ended by the U.S. Navy entering the ship. On board my La Amistad I also have a grappling hook. My boat won't stay called La Amistad. I wanted to call him Hunter first, but I also like Aquila. That means eagle in Latin.
La Amistad we had to sail yesterday to a boat slope. Unfortunately, the engine did not always do well. La Amistad lived up to her name, so Daddy was like a slave chasing the boat and he also paddled for me with Emma. When we arrived at the boat slope, the slope was not deep enough. La Amistad has a keel so the slope must be deep. So Mom had to take the trailer to another boat slope and Emma rebelled and didn't go with her anymore, but got in the car and went to the other boat slope. On the way, the engine did occasionally and occasionally didn't. I had my father, the slave of La Amistad raise the mainsail. Sailing we went to the other boat slope. While Emma and I went swimming, Daddy tried to get La Amistad on the trailer. But the trailer didn't come deep enough. Finally, three men and three women drew La Amistad on the trailer.
My boat's home in the driveway now. When my school work is finished, I have to clean it, because it's very dirty and smallpox and mussels have to be taken off the keel, the rudder blade and the underwater ship. If the boat is clean then I give it a different name after everything that happened yesterday, because I feel a little bad about it anyway. I'm going to sand and paint the woodwork with my father. And this time, my dad doesn't have to do it alone. Then the boat goes to Friesland, to Sneek. Piet-Jan is allowed to lie behind his house on the jetty, so that I can go straight to the Frisian lakes. Thank you Piet-Jan! I'm super happy with it and I like that I'm going to see you more often. #Zeilen #zeilboot #Amistad #Friesland #Sneek #Blog
