Language: are you looking for or looking?

I come across him more and more often, just again in a staff advertisement: Are you a real sales tiger (itchy word!)? Then we are looking for you!

He is completely incomprehensible to me: how do you come up with the idea of writing 'looking' to each other? Because it's wrong. The Society Our Language is clear about it: you only write 'search' to each other in the following sense:Would you like me to look that up for you?I had to search on the Internet in forums to slightly understand why people would want to write it to each other.

Lookup is a verb. When joining it is divided: I search (you never see: I search, but maybe this is the gods request and I will soon encounter them). Only in the next sentence order do the parts remain together: the word I am looking for. Apparently a lot of people think that if the words are one after another, you can, or even have to, write them to each other. However, that is not the case. In the sentence section 'I'm looking for 'the piece 'on search' is not a verb conjugation at all! 'Search' in 'by search' is originally a noun, just like for example: we are able, or you are going on your way. And they are not written to each other either. On a forum I even found that someone had applied for a job, had used it well in the letter 'looking for search', but during the interview it was pointed out that she had written it wrong and that it should have been 'looking'! Wrong!!

By the way, I have a colleague who can also be quite creative with language. He sometimes writes that something is “based on “... That is even better than looking, because at least 'look' is an existing verb, 'based' is not! So it can always be worse, but still: try to do it right, you know how to do it right now. Good luck!
