A very important element in animal life is heat.. This is also precisely why some animals visit humans in cold times.. Ever since man moved into houses, she has been working on different forms of isolation.. In the Middle Ages, thatched roofs and walls of straw and clay were created, but it would last until the seventeenth century until the first cavity walls appeared, and these were only reserved for the richest people..
Lots of things such as shells, moss, cork, hemp and even residual waste were deposited in the gutter wall. Everything available, absorbed moisture and poorly conducted heat. When the industry entered, new materials such as glass wool, rock wool and PU foam (also known as pur) were developed. All of this led to our homes becoming more and more isolated.. Our government was keen to keep energy loss to an absolute minimum; a lesson we learned during the 1973 oil crisis..
That all seems pretty, but there's a downside. Our homes have now become warm hotbeds and the animal world is now aware of this.. And so it comes that under the influence of other heat, namely global warming, an insect from Asia has come this way to come to winter in our homes during the winter months: the Greyly Field Bug. Often we find dozens of them together, in the attic, in the wall or in other places in our house.. It's not like the animals make nests, but they emit a certain smell.. With that scent, they say to each other, “Come here's like, here it's warm and safe”. We tend to slay or kick the animals down.. Totally wrong. Because then it releases another smell, a horribly dirty air that the bugs secrete at risk, which causes our home to smell and in fact it's very innocent animals.. All they want is a warm corner and not everyone wants it in winter.?
In summer, the insect lives on trees, where it sucks juices.. In the Leijpark where we found her she can take her heart; enough hazel, elms, mountain ash, hawthorns and blackberries to ensure a steady meal. She is also a scavenger.. Dead insects are sucked out by her and thus cleaned up. In late spring, she lays her eggs on the leaves of mostly alder, and they are more than enough in the Leijpark.. A greyful field bug in summer is not the problem either, and in winter, even if you have a big heart and are willing to share part of your home with nature.. And why shouldn't you do it?? If you leave the bugs alone, they will do so with you too.. Sometimes life and letting live is the best solution for all parties..
