In the Leijpark, we see robins all year. You might think they won't pull away in the fall, but nothing is less true. Our robins that we hear whistling in the summer and of which we occasionally catch a glimpse of their red breast feathers are now, now winter, in Spain and Portugal. The robins that can now be admired in the park are birds that have come from Scandinavia this way. These birds are a lot more brave than our summer robins. They get very close to you with ease and don't seem to know fear. It's a good thing that the summer robins have been pulled away; it could result in bloody (even fatal) battles between our birds and the Northerners. Only a few brave males linger in our own country. Their motivation is that they have found the best spots to nest. They give up that territory for no one just because admit: Where is the better life and nesting, than in the Leijpark?
