Lift Sanctions
#politics Joe Biden's government will only lift sanctions on officials in Venezuela if in the country they take “meaningful measures” to “restore” democracy.
The position of the Biden government was stated by Antony Blinken, US Secretary of State, who said that “it is possible to withdraw sanctions with respect to individuals and entities or government that take meaningful measures to restore democratic order.”.
During a press conference, Blinken recalled that sanctions are not permanent.
Among the measures required by the Biden administration is not to engage in human rights abuses and expressing its disagreement with the abuses committed.
