Ludo is the most enjoyable game loved by everyone. It is a strategic board game played by two or four players. There are 4 different colored sections of ludo board each having its own 4 tokens as well. Normally there are red, blue, yellow, and green sections and their tokens of the same respective color. People of different countries have their own rules for playing the game. Some play with one dice, while others with two dice. However, there are some general rules accepted by everyone. According to some people ludo came from an Indian game Pachisi.

Ludo board:

Ludo board is square in shape has 4 sections colored bright yellow, red, green, and blue. The play space is cross-shaped and each arm of this cross has three columns of squares which makes 6 per column. These colored spaces have their own-colored tokens. Each player selects a color and play with it. The middle column consisting of all five colored squares representing every player’s home. The six colored small square is every player’s starting point. There is a finishing square at the center of ludo board which is the finishing point.

How to play:

Players start playing in the clockwise order. Each player starts the game only if his/her dice turns out to be the highest number which is generally six. When six comes, the player has to move token, for instance, 1 token for one six. If six comes two times, it is up to the player if he or she wants to move two sixes with one token or two. Every token moves in a clockwise pattern. If there are more than one token in the play space, it is up to the player which token he or she wants to move.

When dice throw turns out to be 6, the player gets another turn as well to throw dice. To bring out another token from the house, you need six. If the token jumps on the position of another player’s token, the piece is returned to the home. This part is the most exciting point of the game. If the token lands on its own piece, it forms a block, another exciting part of the game. The block can not be crossed by any other colored token. However, remember that you need to kill any token of the opposite team to enter your home or win the game.

When the player reaches the home column, it continues moving towards the end of the column and reach home after completing its journey. The piece is safe when it is in the home column. The first player with all the four pieces reached their home wins the game. The remaining continue the game and become runner ups.
