10 tips voor het onderwerp van je email

Ga maar eens na bij jezelf; op basis waarvan open je een email wel of niet? Goede kans dat de titel van de email de grootste invloed heeft of je een mail opent, verwijdert of zelfs markeert als spam. Het onderwerp van je email is dus van groot belang. En dat geldt zowel wanneer je een individu een email stuurt als wanneer je een grote groep wilt bereiken: groepsemail, nieuwsbrief, reclame etc.

  1. Kort: een grote dienst als Mailchimp adviseert maximaal 9 woorden en 60 karakters.
  2. Getallen: gebruik getallen waar mogelijk. Ontvangers verwerken deze informatie snel en gemakkelijk.
  3. Personaliseer: gebruik gegevens van je ontvanger zoals naam, locatie, taal of interesses.
  4. Verras: door humor, controverse of hints creëer je nieuwsgierigheid.
  5. Gebruik emojis: spaarzaam gebruik van emojis trekken op een goede manier de aandacht.
  6. Vermijd spam: stop met het gebruik van CAPS-LOCK of een overvloed aan uitroeptekens.
  7. FOMO: als je een aanbieding doet of iemand wilt overhalen; speel daar op in met een gevoel van urgentie.
  8. Bracket: gebruik [..] om speciale content te benadrukken. Bijvoorbeeld: [whitepaper] of [bonus]
  9. Vergeet de preview-tekst niet: wat komt er te staan in de email-inbox als eerste preview van de inhoud van je email?
  10. Test: Doe A-B tests om te kijken hoe jouw ontvangers reageren op je onderwerpen.

Email, of bedoel je blog? Mail met een opdracht laat ik wachten tot ik tijd heb om te verwerken, reclame gaat weg en de rest lees ik als ik mijn mailbox open. Titel maakt soms uit " huwelijk" "feestje" lokt echt wel.
