#history Medicine goes back a few thousand years back in time. At that time, several diseases were discovered at that time. And palliative treatments for them also began to be sought.
It can be said that the history of medicine as we know it today begins with Hippocrates, who was the first great doctor who lived in Ancient Greece 2,400 years ago. He was the first to describe many of the diseases and indicated the remedies that science at the time could provide to remedy them.

He forced his students to take a severe oath, by which each doctor obliged himself to help the sick person, to win his trust, to always protect life and to keep the secret of an illness. Even today doctors pronounce that same Hippocratic oath or Hippocratic oath.
The basic principles of Hippocrates were continued and greatly expanded by Erasístratus and by Herophilus. That they made great advances both in physiology and in human anatomy.

Avicenna was an Arab doctor. He concentrated his knowledge on a set of 5 books called Canon, where he captured all his knowledge. The Canon was translated into several languages and was used to study medicine throughout Europe until the 16th century.

Until about three hundred years ago, medical science remained almost the same as those of the ancient. Man knew very few things about his body and was unaware of the true causes of many of his diseases. He applied medicinal herbs and some strange means and superstitious practices. As a curiosity, the profession of surgeon was practiced in many countries barbers!!
