At the request of our administration @Henkjan by Krijger to create posts alluding to Judaism, about studies I do in ancient Jewish books, to strengthen my knowledge, since I am a person with a determining nature, I like to know the origin of things.
In this post I am going to share information about studies carried out by me about 2 months ago about Jesvan's les.
This month of Jeshvan is the only one with a positive additional word
and negative, it is also called “Mar-Jeshvan”.
This year 5782 brings
29 days, sometimes it brings 30 days. The Rosh Chodesh of
Jeshvan is always going to fall on a new moon on a Monday, Wednesday,
Thursday and Saturday.
The word Mar has two meanings: one positive and one negative:
Word Meaning Explanation Sea “bitter” It alludes to the fact that the month does not contain holidays.
“water” refers to the special connection of the month
with the rains.
Jeshvan is considered the second month in the Hebrew calendar because it is the one that follows the month of Tishrei, where the creation of man is celebrated in Rosh Hashana.
It is like a second part of the renewed soul that enters us after Yom Kippur, after the process of atonement and forgiveness of our sins.
This is the most positive day of the year.
Will they wonder why?
“Because it has the representation of the energy of the Mashiach.
The name of Jeshvan has its origin in the Akkadian language spoken by the Assyrians and Babylonians around the second millennium before the common era, literally meaning the eighth moon, that is, the eighth month. This is the second month of the year according to the count of months from Tishrei, the month in which the world was created, and the eighth month according to the count of months from the month of Nissan, the month when the Benei Israel left Egypt.
This is a month of boreal autumn. His zodiac sign is Scorpio because this month he begins to pray for rain, after the long and dry summer lived in the land of Israel, and therefore it is a month of intense desire for water like the scorpion in the desert.
This month has 2 letters of the Hebrew alphabet associated with it: the letter Nun and the letter Mem.
The verbal root nun means “to reign”. As a noun it means “the heir to the throne”. In Aramaic, nun means “fish”. The mem, the waters of the sea, is the natural environment of the nun, nourishing in it, and living on it.
While true in Hebrew, nun means “kingdom”, and in particular the “heir to the throne”. The letter nun, in ordinal numbering is the letter 14, the numeric value of “David”.
Thus the “destiny” of Mashiach and his generation is to assume the sea level on earth. As Habakkuk 2:14 says.
The 7th day of the month of Jeshvan is when the Jews begin to pray for rain in the Holy Land. In the following way “And give us the dew and the rain for blessing”, so that it comes from
pilgrims in Israel to the Euphrates River.
For rain is considered to be the physical manifestation of the “life force” at its best. Everything that lives depends
of water to survive.
While it is true that our bodies are made up of 86% water. The spiritual force of life, compassion and
creativity of Hashem, is concretely manifested through this gift of water.
The rain we see is the source of “being” and “transforming”.
When we open our minds to see rain as the blessing it is, every time it rains our consciousness is altered.
The Talmud tells us that rain is a huge statement of Hashem's presence in the everyday world.
Some of the phrases or commentaries described in the Talmud as
for example:
1. Makes salvation multiply.
2. It tells us that our sins are forgiven.
3. Everything we own is blessed.
Why is rain considered so great? Because it's a
source of inspiration and blessing.
The answer is that we were put into a physical world with all its temptations and with the inherent concealment of Hashem's presence. Our role is to light a candle in a dark place and let the goodness it reflects illuminate the whole world. In this case, rain gives material life.
In Jeshvan we have to make choices about our relationship with the real world, with the routine that we still have to face.
We have to commit ourselves not to flinch in the face of the things we see and the simple choices we make.
“Jeshvan is a time of great opportunity”.
According to a comment in the Midrash. This month is a time of destruction and at the same time of rebirth, it is a time of
wilting and renewal”.
Another aspect that distinguishes Jeshvan unlike the previous month,
which was full of religious celebrations and holidays. In Jeshvan, it is quite the opposite: it is a month full of spiritual movement, in which we separate ourselves from earthly reality and dedicate ourselves only to ourselves and our growth.
Jeshvan brings us back to physical reality. Real life begins, we must learn to integrate the state we managed to achieve
during the big holidays and everything we learned to daily life.
Since we have a whole month to learn to balance physical reality with spiritual reality, to learn to live in
unity and harmony. However, for this reason, this is the month that requires the most work on our part; it requires us to grow up and not be conformist.
During the Month of Jeshvan, several events of great importance to the people of Israel took place.
The 11th day of Jeshvan. Death of Rachel our matriarch (1553) before the common era Rachel is one of our four matriarchs
was the second wife of Yaakov, the woman whom he loved most. Which stood out for its sweetness, righteousness and beauty. He died
in the year 2208 since the Creation, outside the land of Israel while giving birth to her second son Benjamin. She was buried
near the city of Bethlehem, where his tomb is still preserved.
It is said that from there it protects the Jews who return from Exile to their land.
On the 15th of Jeshvan in the year 3622 from Creation 139 before the common era Mattathias, son of the High Priest Yojanan, who was the father of the Maccabees, died.
This being the first to take up arms against the Greeks in the city of Modin, near the mountains of Judea, he was already a lord of adulthood. However, he gave courage to the soldiers by reminding them of Hashem. His five sons (Judah, Yojanan, Simon, Eliezer and Jonathan) continued the battle until victory, which we celebrated at the Chanukah festival.
17 of cheshvan. Beginning of the Great Flood 2105 before the common era, in 1656 since the creation Hashem released its waters on the earth, thanks to the moral decay into which men of that generation had fallen. Only Noah and his family distanced themselves from depravity. Because the world had gone astray, and it was not appropriate to let humans, who had been created to leave the impression of Hashem wherever they were, continue to desecrate themselves and the world.
Therefore, they were saved in the Ark that Noach himself built and humanity was able to continue. According to Rashi and other commentators, it was the first day that the waters began to fall. The same waters ceased and finished drying up a year later on the 27th of Jeshvan, ending the Great Flood. As Bereshit 7:11 recounts.
On the 28th of Jeshvan Noach offered his sacrifice to Hashem, and the creator promised him not to bring a flood on earth again, to destroy mankind, and then reveal to him the sign of the covenant creating the rainbow.
In this month of Jeshvan is ruled Scorpio and by the planet Mars, it is a water sign characteristic of the people who are born in this month. This sign is the strongest and most powerful of all, because it has a great internal energy, and it tends to be very negative, but when it works on it it it is the most positive of all, because they are sensitive, sensitive, intuitive, and very controlling.
Note: currently in the Hebrew calendar we are at 5782 since creation. This calendar is the oldest and most accurate calendar.
