The #stikstofberekeningen of the Mesdagfonds, an interest organisation for dairy farmers, seem to be wrong. The organisation revealed that 25 percent of the nitrogen precipitation in natural areas comes from agriculture.

A “bug” in the so-called OPS software of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) is the cause of the error, says Mesdagfonds-chairman Jan Cees Vogelaar on Monday in a written statement.

“Unfortunately, we have not been able to foresee this bug in the OPS software. When the material was supplied by RIVM, it was explicitly indicated that the deposition calculations could be carried out”, the organisation said.A spokesman for the RIVM strongly denies the existence of a bug, according to him the Mesdagfonds has entered the wrong data.
