Practical, small with a design so perfect that nothing has changed since its creation. These metallic artifacts, which even in such a digitalized world are still the best way to keep our papers together. Such an invention was in the middle of the 19th century, documents were held together by pins. But they spoiled the paper and caused continuous punctures to those who had to handle them.

Finally, in 1867, the American Samuel B. Fay patented the first clip. In reality, his invention was designed to attach labels to fabrics and clothes, but it was perfectly valid for paper.

A few years later, in 1977, another American, Erlman J. Wright, obtained the patent for the first clip intended for papers and documents.

However, the British company The Gem Manufacturing Company had been manufacturing clips similar to the current ones for years, although it never patented them.
