MONUMENT TO MEMORE: meaning or nonsense?

#MONUMENT 😍 During the #fietstocht I made yesterday (19-8-2020), I was able to take some other pictures for my #Facebook /Meppel Now site. For example, I cycled over the Euringer Es from Havelte to Darp. More than seventy years after the drama in which ten Americans lost their lives on the Eursinger Es, the victims finally get a face.
It #vliegtuig is in May 1944 after a bombing of Berlin on the way back to the airbase in England. At Havelte, however, it gets into trouble. The crew tries to make an emergency landing, but the aircraft is taken from the air by Flak (Flieger/Flugzeug Abwehr Kanone) and crashes on the Eursinger Es between Havelte and Darp.
