#weetjenog The band Mud had commercial success in the European charts in 1974 and scored three number 1 hits in the two Dutch charts: Dyna-mite, Tiger feet and Lonely this Christmas. The cat crept in (in 1974) and L'L'Lucy (in 1975) also ranked number one in the National Hitparade.

Because of a fight with record owner Mickie Most and with the writers duo Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman Mud started recording self-written songs in 1975, including the hit L'Lucy, but the interest in glam rock was already diminishing. The hits dried up slowly, despite attempts by the band to keep up with their time and put disco influences in their music. In the late seventies the original line-up of Mud fell apart.

In the eighties singer Les Gray Mud breathed new life with a rejuvenated line-up. Especially in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and the United Kingdom, he was a welcome guest at the old festivals. He also regularly provided television performances. He died in a Portuguese hospital on 21 February 2004 due to throat cancer and a subsequent heart attack.

Bassist Ray Stiles was part of The Hollies since the eighties and guitarist Rob Davis is active as a dance producer from that time on. Among other things, he wrote Can't get you out of my head for Kylie Minogue. Drummer Dave Mount has withdrawn from the music world. He attempted suicide and died in the hospital on December 2, 2006.
