For many people suffering from amnesia, the spoken language has become pointless. Music can help patients remember melodies or songs and connect with their memories and memory. This is because the part of the brain, which processes music, is next to memory.

Scientists from Norwegian Sogn Og Fjordane College, compared the effects of music on different groups of people suffering from post-traumatic amnesia, or amnesia. They divided the patients into three different groups:

  1. group 1 heard live music
  2. group 2 heard recorded music
  3. group 3 didn't hear any music at all
