Music helps people with dementia.
Sometimes you get shivers from listening to a particularly touching piece of music? You can thank the brain's network for that emotional joint. Surprisingly, this region remains an island of commemoration spared from the ravages of Alzheimer's disease. Researchers at the University of Utah Health are looking for this part of the brain to develop music-based treatments to relieve anxiety in patients with dementia.

“People with dementia face a world unknown to them, leading to disorientation and anxiety. We believe that music will benefit from the brain's network that still functions relatively.”
