My tree bumblebee has been living with me since Saturday, April 20, 2024, which means she has been staying here for 6 weeks now. So it's high time for another minor update.

Bumblebee update

Actually, I don't have a lot of new things to mention. Under the circumstances, everything seems to be going quite well. Of course, she can't tell me herself, so it's a bit of a gut test. I do notice that she is less active than before, but that may be because she is in captivity and is missing a colony.

I provide her with fresh flowers every day and I also try to find new varieties every time. However, that turns out to be quite a task, because there is hardly anything to find. Where before, meadows and fields were teeming with colorful flowers, almost nothing remains. Only grass (if it hasn't been driven off) and some plants, but nothing nutritious enough for these animals. It makes me quite sad. Bumblebees and bees have to travel a considerable distance to find something, and it is therefore not surprising that more and more exhausted animals are encountered. Exhausted or starved to death.
