My first selfie was with you.
My dear friend from the Far North, whom I still love very much.
Years ago, we stood up for our first selfie together.
And this was really long before the digital age started.
Yes, really!
It was at that time that you couldn't look back at the photo you had just taken.
It was in the time of the photo roll and that came to an end a long time ago.
It was always on good luck and if you were able to go get your photos after a long time,
then you really couldn't break the day.
Yes, you always had to wait for the roll to fill up first and only then, did you take it away.
Often the photos were surprising and beautiful, but you were also very often unlucky.
Then there was another big thumb in front of the lens, or they were too dark, or far too bright again.
And in another photo, you sometimes only saw a pair of legs, so you weren't fully focused.
Haha what a lot of fun you used to have and now you have to take a look.
We shoot thousands of photos on holidays, but stick a few for a photo book, we can't enrich ourselves with that anymore.
The most beautiful ones are carefully selected and, if necessary, they are even edited.
This is followed by sharing on social media, a stage where we all 'feed' ourselves a little bit, and compliments even reinforce us.
Sometimes it seems like an exaggeration and sometimes it's nice too.
After all, a selfie shows something you're proud of, she shows you're allowed to be there.
My first selfie is a long time ago and, without knowing it, he was good all at once.
I will never forget him, it was with my very first best friend and I am still happy and thankful that I met her in the Far North (Veendam) at that time.
