È tutto quello che Ahnu conosce del mondo, solo la sua oasi fra i monti del deserto, una piccola sorgente racchiusa nel cuore del palmeto.  Durante i lunghi e infuocati mesi estivi, è tutta la sua acqua, torbida e fangosa, ma pur sempre acqua. A turno un uomo fa la guardia alla pozza, da cui si possono attingere solo pochi secchi il giorno, tre per gli Ohnigah e uno per i pastori Somiah.

That's all Ahnu knows about the world, only her oasis in the desert mountains, a small spring enclosed in the heart of the palm grove. During the long, hot summer months, it's all her water, muddy and dark, but still water. A man takes turns guarding the pool, from which only a few buckets per day can be drawn, three for the Ohnigah and one for the Somiah shepherds.
