A beautiful fortress town to visit if you live in the Netherlands or if you are in the Netherlands. A town with a lot of history! An absolute must
At the Tourist Office (in the Utrechtse Poort) of Naarden Vesting you can pick up this map, so you can take a route where you don't miss anything. You can also book a canal cruise with the Fortress - Cruise. Be sure to do if you have enough time!
The fortress - path
I walked the fortress path first. You can choose the 'covered' path, over which the soldiers could move quickly if necessary. I myself walked the sand path, just a little higher. You could look out on the old outer moat, the 'salty moat. '
The total fortress path around the Fortress is about 4 km. but there is a possibility to 'dive' into 'the fortress in between, to see the inside of the Fortress, the town itself.
