#Steenwijk (Lower Saxon: Steenwiek or Stieenwiek) is a town in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is with 17,155 [1] inhabitants the largest city in the municipality of Steenwijkerland and after Kampen the largest city in the Kop van Overijssel. #Steenwijk an old fortified town. The canals and ramparts date back to the time of the Eighty Years' War, when Steenwijk was a strategic place in the battle between the Republic of the Seven United Netherlands and Spain.
