There are very beautiful, sleek and perfect pieces of String Art in books, magazines and on the internet. You can hardly tell that it's handicraft. The wood is perfectly chosen, smoothly sanded, and the drawing is perfectly measured, neatly tailored and beautifully parallel . The holes are measured on the millimetre ruler and accurately pre-drilled, all at the same depth. After that, the board is lacquered, stained or varnished. After hours of drying, the nails can look pretty straight and precise.. perfect! The quality thread is chosen by colour: dark wood is very beautiful and dark colours come out beautifully on light wood.

That's all possible. It will be a beautiful nail artwork. But I didn't choose to do that.. I don't have the patience for it either. Here is the plankie painted and a pattern is drawn by hand. The pattern is a bit stuck and holes on the eye. One a bit higher than the other, distances don't get that close. The wire is good luck too, without a real system.

So it can be done in different ways, but no matter how you make it, the result will be the same: a funny wirefigure (or what fancy called String Art) and made with pleasure. For gift or hanging on the wall.
