Nature photo caterpillars nest

I came across a lot of these caterpillars nests during my walk. They had eaten their bellies and were ready to go popping. Unfortunately, many have become a treat for birds, because a day later only the cobwebs were still there, and there was no living caterpillar to be seen Fortunately, I still have the photos!

They don't look like the oak processionary, which has a black stripe on the back. wonder what butterfly they have turned into.

@marijke the procession caterpillar? Good question, I don't know, but they've all been eaten too so these won't cause itching anymore 😊

@Encaustichris Yes looked nice, the whole bushes were full of such nests, but were not sheltered and were therefore easy prey for hungry birds. Unfortunately, that's how it goes in nature.
