With further warming, the risk of the extinction of animals and plants and the loss of ecosystems increases. If warming remains limited to 15 degrees, the global sea level will still rise by an average of 2 to 3 meters over the next 2,000 years. With a warming of 2 degrees, it will be 2 to 6 meters. If the current trend of increasing emissions continues in the coming decades, sea level rise is likely to be around 15 meters as early as 2300.
