New destination old town hall in Hasselt

#RENOVATIERAADHUIS : 😍 The old town hall in late Gothic style in Hasselt is among the oldest preserved #raadhuizen of the Netherlands. In the years 1907 and 1908, the town hall was radically restored by Jos Th.J. Cuypers. The Association Hendrick de Keyser acquired the building in 1995, had it restored and set it up as a centre for local history, culture and tourism. The town hall for the municipality of Hasselt lost its function when the board and the officials moved to a new building on the Telvorenstraat in 1993. At that time it was already known that the old town hall would be set up as a museum. Eight years later, in January 2001, the municipality of Hasselt merged into the new municipality of Zwartewaterland. Hasselt is the administrative centre of the merged municipalities of Genemuiden, Hasselt and Zwartsluis.
