Located on the Belgian coast, Nieuwpoort is a charming town known for its rich maritime history, picturesque harbour and beautiful sandy beaches. It is a popular destination for tourists and nature lovers alike, thanks to its combination of culture, relaxation and unique nature experiences.


One of the most remarkable nature experiences in Nieuwpoort is the presence of seals. These playful animals are regularly spotted along the coast and in the IJzer Estuary, a protected nature reserve that borders the port of Nieuwpoort. It is a real treat for visitors to see these marine mammals in their natural habitat, resting on the sandbanks or swimming in the water.
